Social Ties, Wages, and Gender Among Salvadorean [sic] and Filipino Immigrants in Los Angeles

Do social ties help compensate for immigrants' labor market disadvantages? Using a pilot survey of Salvadorian and Filipino immigrants in Los Angeles, the authors investigate hypotheses about interrelations between social ties and wages. They examine social ties in families and households, as job contacts, and in workplaces.
