This Note discusses a concept for the active defense — through "homing bullets" — of tactical fighter-bombers against surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). It argues that self-contained protection, in a nonnuclear environment, based on the active interception of long-range, high-altitude SAMs may be more practicable than is generally believed.
