Inventory control procedures ordinarily allow for obsolescence by making an arbitrary blanket charge to be distributed over all supply items. The models discussed in this paper are concerned with optimization of ordering and disposal decisions, leading to policies of the (s,S) type, incorporating specific elements descriptive of the uncertainty of future demand for the particular item.
