Presentations at this workshop, attended by U.S. and European demographers and security experts, developed a general framework for understanding the security relevance of particular demographic trends, either by focusing on particular regions of the world, providing historical background for understanding current trends, or examining the security implications of specific demographic factors such as immigrant flows, urbanization, and ethnic composition.
