The U.S. Air Force has recently confronted a host of challenges in its efforts to maintain military readiness. This briefing focuses on the nature of those challenges in an air mobility wing at Travis Air Force Base, California. It concludes that maintainers and aircrews alike have in fact been subjected to myriad pressures, many of them conflicting, and that these pressures have adversely affected overall productivity. Viable solutions to these problems, however, must address all aspects of unit readiness.
