This project investigates the possibilities of implementing instruments developed in the United States to increase road traffic safety. One of these instruments, Safestat, prioritizes U.S. motor carriers for safety inspections. The report investigates developing a similar instrument for prioritizing carriers for inspection in the Netherlands, and also for assessing the effectiveness of the inspection activities. It contains a comparison of road safety aspects in the United States and The Netherlands and a description of the American tools and proposals for the development of similar tools in The Netherlands.
